Antiche Terme

Caution – I think these are the right details and hopefully not those for the Grand Hotel Antiche Terme which is a sulphurous grand hotel for those going to the spa with dreadful food!

Closed wednesday

We have been here a number of times, the first with AMONT was the best – Filippo Rondelli  had called in advance for us to explain the allergies and we were there with the local museum. Rosie had gluten free pasta and melon and ham instead of the pastries. Our waiter was vegetarian so he looked after Ben and David and they were very careful over the desserts. Their care and attention really put French restaurants to shame.

We went back again just the four of us which was good – but despite calling in advance the care was less – we brought our own pasta – and the menu was the same. The third time we went with Lance and Judy (August 2011) – same menu and they seemed more hassled by our complicated requests – although they seemed to be getting to know us.

The fourth time we were with the growers of Rossese di Dolceacqua. Again a little complicated allergy-wise, would certainly help if we could speak Italian although the owners son does speak good French, and the same menu. But the food is good value for money with traditional dishes and they are always full.
