8th July 2012 Ka Mancine Cellar

Sciagao Rose 2011. 10hr skin contact. 13% alcohol. Onion skin,. Dry herby nose. Ripe red fruit, dry, hints of herby tannin, chewy acidity.

Antea Rossese Bianco 2011. (no DOC vin de table)13%. Fruit aromas, slightly peachy soft fruit. Gentle herby acidity from vines on Pini. Vines planted pre-phylloxera so not grafted, ripen earlier.

Poggi Pini 2009. 14%. Nose quite closed. Very fresh acidity, fruit, fresh, clean, black cherries, ripe plums.. Hints of black fruit. Fine grain tannins. Raspberries no longer noticeable – much darker chocolate, black fruit and wild berries.

Pini is at 300m – riper, warmer site. Old vines. Macerate 20-30% with branches.

Poggi Pini 2008 14.5% Not much fresh fruit on nose. Mineral. Stewed teas and tannins. Good chewy acidity and firm tannins but fruit a little stewed – this was a very hot year.

Poggi Pini 2007 14.5% Lovely inky fruit on nose. Lots of ripe cherries, raspberries, fresh and clean with good acidity. Black fruit, tannins, fine tannins, black chocolate, silky.

Poggi Pini 2006 Fresh raspberries, wild fruit. Clean fresh acidity. Leaner and more mineral. No black chocolate. Very good acidity, fresh, clean red. Fine tannins – coolers.

Poggi Pini 2005 Red berry fruit. Lovely ripe red fruit but melloe, ripe. Good fine tannins and great acidity.

7th July 2012 Rossese Style, Bajardo

Luvaira 2010 Toasty nose, lots of ripe fruit, red fruit, juicy and good acidity. 18/20

Poggio Pini 2010 Volatile, prunes, stewed fruits but good tannins and structure. 17/20

23rd June 2012 Dolceacqua

Superiore 2010 Excellent fresh acidity, black chocolate tannins. Very good balance. Good tannic structure. Very fresh. Made from an assemblage of three different parcels of the youngest vines. 17.5/20

Luvaira 2010 (13.5%) Luvaira has a greater amount of clay (argile). His largest parcel of vines is in this area and this wine is 100% Luvaira. The exposure is different and gets more sun in the morning. Herby, spicy, aromatic nose. Very fresh acidity. Lovely bramble and red fruit character – great acidity, freshness and big structural tannins. Great depth and full bodied black fruit. Rich supple tannins. 18+/20

Poggio Pini 2010 This parcel has a greater amount of schist. Herbs and red fruit character. More black fruit, floral fruit. Fresh acidity, fine grain tannins, leanness of wild red berry fruit. 18/20

23rd December 2011 Ventimiglia

Rossese di Doceacqua 2009. Fresh, crisp acidity. Berry fruit, smooth and creamy. Fresh bitter cherry tannins with long mineral finish. Rosie. Not sweet, wild blackberries and creamy. 15/20

22nd May 2011 Bordighera

Poggio Pini Superiore 2009 Slightly rubbery nose. Crisp fresh acidity, firm tannins, closed dry fruit. Fresh dark chocolates and raspberries. 14%. 17/20

29th May 2010 Dolceacqua

Superiore 2008 “Poggio Pini” Burnt rubber, sulphur, mercaptans. Too long on lees?

Superiore 2008 “Luvaira” Firm dry tannins full bodied, deep fruit. 17/20
