In this tasting, part of our series of events at the Potami shop in St Martin Vésubie, we explored the wines of Dolceacqua. Historically part of the same region as the wines from Bellet and the Conté de Nice.

A difficult choice over which wines to show, in the end I stayed with the wines from two estates: Terre Bianche and Maccario-Dringenberg to illustrate both the range of wines made and the diversity of the different crus from the two valleys.

The wines tasted were:
- Spumante 2012 Maccario-Dringenberg
- Arcana Bianco, Pigato 2010, Terre Bianche
- Rosacruz 2012, Maccario-Dringenberg
- Brae 2012, Maccario-Dringenberg
- Classico 2012, Terre Bianche
- Classico 2012, Maccario-Dringenberg
- Bricco Arcagna 2011 Superiore, Terre Bianche
- Luvaira 2010 Superiore, Maccario-Dringenberg
- Posau 2010 Superiore, Maccario-Dringenberg
It was particularly interesting to see how no one wine was a clear favourite. The tasters found it very challenging to try seven different wines (including one rosé) made from the same variety. Some preferred the fresh fruit of the Classico wines, others the greater richness of the Superiore wines.
