Name derives from ‘apricus’ = exposed to the sun. 10th century village, dominated by the castle.

Locally produced products Taggiasca olive oil, olive oaste and Rossese wine. Local dishes: ravioli; rabbit ‘brüscau’ cooked with olives and Rossese; stuffed courgette flowers and stuffed vegetables; ‘fugassun’ (tourte);machetursa (pissaldière apricalese) and ‘pansarole e zabaglium.
